OMI leads Experience Design at Space Perspective, shaping every aspect of history’s most pre-sold space tourism venture. Embedded within Space Perspective, we collaborated closely with their engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver a capsule that satisfies the rigorous demands of spaceflight while crafting a distinctive, striking vehicle for the growing space tourism market.
From concept sketches to production, we drove the industrial design of the capsule, focusing on its architecture and establishing key fundamentals such as floor heights, window sizes, and component detailing. Our hands-on and collaborative approach ensures that every element aligns with the project’s vision.
Creating compelling imagery is also central to our work, capturing the imagination of customers and investors alike and bringing the vision of space tourism to life. A standout achievement was the completion of the Flight 2 capsule, Spaceship Neptune – Excelsior, in February 2024, which exemplifies our collaborative process with the entire Space Perspective team.
We have been collaborating with the Mercedes Maybach team to bring the ‘Maybach experience’ to key touchpoints throughout the Space Perspective experience. Mercedes-Maybach shows the space balloon in its global brand film as part of a campaign to show how the driving experience transports passengers to the beyond.
We also supported the design of Marine Spaceport (MS) Voyager, a 294-foot vessel that launches, receives, and transports the spacecraft. Working with specialist teams, we meticulously contributed to the livery, paint specifications, and spatial planning of the interior, ensuring that every aspect aligns with the Space Perspective brand.
Every design detail on the capsule’s exterior is meticulously refined, from fixing locations to camera mounts and the profile of the splashcone – clearly expressing the brand’s DNA through carefully selected paint finishes and graphic livery, balancing form and function at every level.
