Flip is a flexible public seating solution designed to adapt to changing environments and human needs in high-traffic areas. Whilst public spaces often need help accommodating fluctuating passenger flow, Flip provides additional flexibility and functionality by allowing the seat to un-latch and rotate out of the way, creating space for passengers’ belongings. A novel and modular approach to public spaces, Flip is a set of parts that can be configured to ever-changing needs.
Flip’s design allows each seat to rotate individually along a continuous mechanism, offering a tailored seating arrangement to suit varying needs and situations. The seat is meticulously engineered to balance rotation angles with ergonomic comfort, ensuring a practical yet adaptable seating experience.
Born out of a self-initiated studio project during the global pandemic, Flip addresses the challenges observed in public spaces where seats were often blocked to enforce distancing. It provides a future-proof solution, allowing seating to adjust seamlessly without disrupting the visual harmony of the space and adding functionality for travellers.
